3 levels of involvement
We’re so glad that you want to lend a hand to the project! We appreciate all the help that we can get, and so, to make it easier for you to jump right in, we have outlined a few different options for you which you can choose depending on your availability and comfort level. Feel free to mix and match!
1. spread the word
Here’s a great way for you to ease into the project: if you only have a few minutes to spare, you can help us promote the Unity Express online and in your local community. Everybody should hear about this! And besides, what fun is a four-week train journey without fellow passengers to share the experience with?
Follow and Forward
The idea behind the Unity Express was born within the CouchSurfing community, and we remain committed to our roots. We believe that online social networks offer the fastest and easiest way to grow the project. Follow us, become a fan, share with your friends…

- Sign up for the newsletter – just fill out the form on the homepage.
Share at a local event
Get out and talk about the project during parties, community centre gatherings or CouchSurfing meet-ups. Just ask the organiser if you can have five minutes to share a cool new project! If you need any help with promotional material or exposure, be sure to contact us.
2. access & contribute
Ready to take the next step? If you have a few hours per week that you can give to the project, then there are all sorts of different things for you to dig into!
Become a registered volunteer
Start by joining our Volunteer Network. All you have to do is fill out a short form to let us know a little bit about yourself and what you can bring to the project. We can then contact you as soon as we have something that suits your skills and interests. It’s that simple!
Commit to a Challenge
Anxious to get started? No need to wait for us to contact you! We maintain a list of concrete tasks, which we call Challenges, on our website. We try to provide all the information that you need to get started on your own, right there. If one of the Challenges catches your fancy, just click the “I accept…” button to let us know and then get going with it!
Access our file archive
We use file-sharing service called SugarSync to keep all the project files in one central location. It works just like any other folder on your computer, except that it syncs seamlessly with all the other users of that folder over the internet. No more e-mailing documents back and forth, worrying about the latest revisions and all that!
NOTE: before you can access the shared folder, you need to request the password by sending an e-mail to sugarsync@unityexpress.eu. You’ll get instructions on how to use the share in short order!
3. fully emerge
So, you really want to take the plunge, heh? If all the above isn’t enough for you, if you’re ready to make a serious commitment to the project, if you’re prepared to work day in and day out on the big vision as well as the nitty-gritty, well, you can!
Contribute to strategic decisions
Join us on Google Documents to write plans for the project, like communication strategies, ticketing procedures and rules for team members.

Let’s have a chat
Collaboration is easier when you can talk or even see each other. Most of the time, we do this via Skype and every two months we do it in real life as well. You are welcome to join either!

The Unity Express is not possible without you! On behalf of the other Core Team members, we hope to see you on board the train and among the hundreds of other volunteers already active in the project.
